Bombardier’ s one-year collaboration as ‘Sustainability Partner 2018’ for the Thai-Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CanCham Thailand) is now well under way. As part of an agreement signed earlier this year, the two organizations are co-operating on activities around clean technology, education and leadership development. For its part, Bombardier is sponsoring and participating in a series of CanCham-organized thought leadership events in Bangkok and is working with its Canadian partner to establish a Sustainability and Smart Business Platform to increase engagement on climate change, innovation and workplace equality.
Gregory Enjalbert, Vice President Rail Control Solutions Asia Pacific and Managing Director Thailand, Bombardier Transportation commented. “As a Canadian company with a 21-year presence in Thailand, we place a strong focus on sustainability and we’re very pleased to be working on this programme with CanCham aligned with the Thailand 4.0 agenda to enhance creativity and technology.”
“There’s a lot of strategic alignment between Bombardier and CanCham’s interest in responsible and innovative business practices,” highlights John Stevens, President of CanCham Thailand. “This new partnership is going a long way towards increasing engagement and learning around some of today’s most pressing sustainability challenges and opportunities.”
The first of the sustainability-focused events took place in February, titled 'Women in Leadership – The Path to Becoming a Leader', with over 250 participants from many of Bangkok’s leading companies. The informal event brought together representatives from the public and private sector to discuss the role women play as economic and society leaders. Bombardier welcomed twelve of its team to the luncheon and Gregory Enjalbert presented Bombardier’s commitment to the Sustainability Partnership.
On May 23rd, the next event in the series, 'Leadership in Energy Innovation', was held in the presence of Canadian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Donica Pottie, and attracted over 90 participants including Bombardier delegates. Isaac Vasanthkumar, Head of Human Resources, Asia Pacific, Bombardier Transportation joined the panel discussion alongside other experts, from Thailand and Canada, in the fields of Clean Power, Carbon Off-setting and Blockchain. Isaac highlighted Bombardier’s commitment to providing smart and eco-friendly rail solutions and to building sustainability into the full life-cycle of its products and systems.
