Delivering 100th DT5 metro train for Hamburg

Milestone: delivering the 100th metro train for Hamburg

On February 26th, together with our consortium partner Alstom, we handed over the 100th DT5 metro train to HOCHBAHN at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany.

In November of 2018, Hamburger HOCHBAHN AG, Hamburg’s underground metro system operator ordered an additional 13 DT5 metros to meet the city’s growing need to public transport capacity. A consortium of Alstom and Bombardier handed over the last of these vehicles on February 26. Scheduled to enter service by December 2020, these new trains will bring the total number of DT5s ordered by HOCHBAHN to 131.

The three-car DT5 metro is a modern and spacious train with large gangways, walk-through interiors and multi-purpose areas with two wheelchair spaces. The DT5 offers passengers amenities like air-conditioning, digital passenger information and CCTV systems as well as USB charging plugs for mobile devices.

“Our long-lasting successful partnership with Hochbahn and Alstom, as well as our very committed teams, made this spot landing happen."
