Francesco Mandrile had held different leadership positions at Bombardier Transportation Engineering in the last 9 years. He has a solid background in the locomotive product family and the rolling stock equipment organization.
He holds a Master of Science in Electronic Engineering from Polytechnic of Turin, Italy, where he spent a few years as a post-graduate research fellow in applied research, developing electronic systems for biomedical applications.
He started his career in railways developing brake control system solutions at Faiveley Transport, leading major projects in locomotives, high speed trains and metro market in Europe, in China and in the US.
He joined Bombardier Transportation (Switzerland) Ltd. in 2010 in locomotive vehicle and system engineering, leading the TRAXX MS2e and application portfolio and contributing to the development of the new TRAXX3 product family. After two years spent in the global roles of TRAXX chief engineer and program manager for the rolling stock equipment division, he has been appointed Head of Product Development Center Zürich and Trapaga for the Module Center Energy and Motion, focusing on the development of state-of-art propulsion systems and technologies and their integration in railways vehicles.
He is an expert in Engineering Management and System Engineering and is member of the Swiss Chapter of International Council of System Engineering (INCOSE).
Francesco Mandrile is married and lives in Zürich since 2010. In his free time, he enjoys travelling the world exploring the nature and the local cultures. He loves to play guitar and is passionate about lutherie. Born in Cuneo on the Italian side of the alps, he enjoys hiking or skiing on the Swiss alps now, being Switzerland home to him.
