“I’m an Electronics Engineer on paper, working in IT for more than nine years. During the two years that I have been with Bombardier, I’ve had multiple experiences that were interesting, and which delighted me. The best one was during my trip to Kingston, Canada together with other colleagues. The visit gave me an opportunity to visualize and understand the trains in depth. It was fascinating to see all the raw controls, assembling, parts integration and testing on tracks. I’m proud to be part of a company that plays a major role in moving people and connecting cities across the world and to be able to contribute to making people’s journey an enjoyable one. There are plenty of opportunities here.”

“I started as a parts assembler, but quickly moved to the warehouse to work as a warehouse clerk and was soon promoted to technician. Aged 17, I’m the youngest employee at Bombardier in South Africa (and perhaps globally too). I’m very thankful to Bombardier for giving me and other engineering youth in South Africa work and career opportunities through the TRAXX project. My generation is happy to take charge and make a difference in the rail industry! I believe that determination, the ability to prioritize, eagerness, willingness and respect are the necessary qualities and abilities to be successful in any profession.”

“One of the most interesting experiences I’ve had at Bombardier was working on a business initiative to enhance the capabilities within the region. But the proudest moment for me is always when I see our trains running in service, filled with passengers. Knowing that these vehicles, which we spend enormous amounts of time and effort producing, will be providing a means of transportation to the masses for the next 30 years makes it all worth it.”

“I am a railway signalling engineer and in my 12-year tenure, I have worked on many projects, for example: high-speed train lines in Spain, commuter lines in South America and light rail transit lines in Canada. Currently, I work in the Melbourne office on the Rail Systems Alliance Project in Melbourne, Australia. I am proud of being part of all these projects because they help people reduce their travel time to reach their work and home while making their commute safer and more comfortable.”

“First and foremost, I am a big, strong and funny Mama of a nine-year-old boy. At work, I have another baby – Bangkok’s Green Line extension project, where I’ve been deeply involved for over a year. I am so proud to be a small gear in Bombardier’s machine that moves the world. We do move cities! I’m also proud of our rich knowledge in signalling and systems integration that we share with the communities we operate in. For me Bombardier is more than a job; my team is my second family. My motto at work is trust in yourself, trust in your team, share and give before you take and be proud of what you do.”
“I’ve worked for Bombardier all my life! There have been many memorable experiences during those 36 years, such as the computerization of our Crespin plant in 1985. I was personally involved in the installation of the first computers. Another experience that I recall involved us fixing the problems with vehicle wheel-by-wheel weighing. We fixed the load cells and tracks in the middle of winter, tracks covered with 20 cm of snow, but the result was worth it, we improved the quality of service.”

“At work I have a multifaceted role, which goes beyond my job description. In addition to my main task as a Control Engineer, I also act as a Training Coordinator for my team. I appreciate Bombardier’s support for their employees, especially women. We are an organization which encourages diversity and supports women from all backgrounds in pursuing their careers.”
“I’m friendly and confident but also geeky when it comes to things like comics and trivia. I like to approach things from different angles and often work with a different logical reasoning to most. I’m now into my second year at the company. I was very proud to have been selected for Bombardier’s graduate program, and my pride has only increased since I’ve started: my ideas are valued, and my hard work is truly acknowledged. I’ve even managed to implement my love of comics and story writing into my role, so believe me anything is possible.”

“The best part about working at Bombardier is the international aspect. Everyday I’m in contact with real diversity of thought and culture in very stimulating situations. I’ve been able to embed myself in different cultures throughout my career in South-East Asia, Malaysia, Europe, Australia, Canada and the US. This was a determining factor in keeping me passionate about working for Bombardier.”
