For more than 20 years, Bombardier has provided innovative transit solutions to Malaysia, ranging from urban and airport systems to signalling solutions, and has continually supported the ongoing development of Malaysia’s transport infrastructure. With a dedicated team of over 140 highly skilled engineers and employees to support delivery of various local projects, including delivery of 266 rail vehicles to increase mobility in Kuala Lumpur and 108 vehicles to be delivered after 2020, this is one of the largest INNOVIA fleets in the world to operate in the city along with its fully-automated CITYFLO rail control solution. Bombardier is set to continually improve reliability and capability in Malaysia.
As a committed local partner, since 1998 Bombardier has been investing in local production facilities and workforce training to further support well-integrated public transportation system in Malaysia. For the INNOVIA fleet, final assembly and interior fit-out for these trains are all being carried out in Malaysia, at the Westport facility of the Bombardier HARTASUMA Consortium as part of ongoing initiatives to increase local workforce skills. Further development includes on-the-job training and licensing of engineers according to the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers and technicians in Malaysia, supervised by Technology Depository Agency Berhad. Together, Bombardier is focused on making mobility more efficient, sustainable and inviting than ever before by delivering smart transport solutions to increase connectivity in Malaysia.
The first turnkey project in Malaysia was awarded to Bombardier Transportation in 1992. Since then, the company has been actively and substantially involved in the development and expansion of the country’s urban transportation and the railway system. With a strong track record for delivering projects in time and having supplied transportation systems to support the 1998 Commonwealth Games, Bombardier is a successful supplier for greenfield and brownfield projects in Malaysia.
