Bombardier Transportation in Brazil

Bombardier Transportation activities in Brazil date back to the 1970s, when its predecessor BBC Brown Boveri, later ABB, provided power-supply equipment to the first metro line in São Paulo. Activities under the name Bombardier started in 2001.

Currently, Bombardier Transportation is present in Brazil with a head office in São Paulo, a plant for vehicle manufacturing and assembly in the city of Hortolândia, and three advanced site operations for system implementation and commissioning. As well as its operations in Brazil, Bombardier Transportation Brazil has branch offices in Lima, Peru and Quito, Ecuador.

INNOVIA Monorail 300 System for São Paulo Metro Line 15

In São Paulo, Bombardier is implementing a groundbreaking monorail line with medium to high capacity. When complete, the system will be 24 km long, with 17 stations and a fleet of 54 seven-car trains. Each train is capable of carrying 1,000 passengers, allowing for a transport capacity of 40,000 passengers per hour per direction, with an interval of 90 seconds between trains.

The first phase, with 3 km and two stations, has been in service since August 2015. By the second quarter of 2018, a second phase will enter into service, totalling 13 km and 10 stations, with a prospect of 350,000 passengers per day.
